Koloska-völgyi Harcos (Koloska-Valley Fighter) BRANIE
Šarplaninac Shepherd Dog girl
Born: 20.05.1993 (†15.01.2007)
She was the first dog I ever had as my own.
As a baby dog, she had a small, white spot on her right front paw, like she had stepped in milk 🙂 That is why I picked her out of the litter. Now I know this is not the most important consideration for choosing a puppy, but as a child, not yet able to make a conscious choice, it seemed like a good decision.
We wanted a guard dog, that is why we chose this breed. Branie, by her breed, did not belong to the obedient working dogs, but nonetheless she did a lot for me. We practically grew up together and spent a lot of time together. She slept in my bed and we taught each other an incredible amount of things.
On the last day of her life, though she was weak, she still stood up to greet me when I got home.
I bent down and hugged her to help her, when she suddenly fell. There, during that movement, in that moment, she fell asleep forever in my arms.
It was heartbreaking and touching. We spent nearly 14 beautiful and eventful years together.
Until then, I did not take it seriously that dogs could do that, to wait for their owners when it was time to say goodbye.
Even though I believed that each Dog is a Miracle, Branie helped me to not only believe it, but to know it.
I thanked her with tears in my eyes.
There is no doubt in my mind anymore.
Sissi zu den sieben Burgen, LIZI
German Shepherd Dog girl
Born: 27.05.1995 (†05.11.2005)
IPO3, Kör1, “a2”, VG, TSB “pronounced”
My Master used to say, “Until you’ve worked with a German Shepherd Dog, you’ll never be a really good dog trainer. The German Shepherd Dog is the gold standard!”. I listened to him, and soon found out that he was right!
Lizi came to me when she was 1.5 years old, and the only thing I can say about her is, SHE was THE DOG! And we didn’t even have any outstanding scores in competitions, but that’s my opinion anyway. Many experts smile at my previous statement.
But that’s just the way it is. Not everyone could see the unique glow in those beautiful, deep brown eyes.
She was always where I was. She didn’t ask, she just waited. If I went anywhere, she came with me. She did so because she loved me, not because she had perfect training. On the contrary; I made a lot of mistakes as a beginner, and she still remained patient.
Maybe it’s for all of the above reasons. Or perhaps it’s just because I owe her so so much.
My unforgettable good dog…
QUENNIE Cave Canem
German Shepherd Dog girl
Born: 23.10.1998 (†26.10.2007)
IPO1, AD, TSB “pronounced”
She was born with 10 siblings on 23 October. Two were stillborn and one of her brothers died during the first night. Fanny, the mother dog, was unable to feed all the puppies adequately, so baby Quennie was given to me by the breeder at 5 days old, at less than 7 inches and 0,6 lbs, with her eyes and ears still closed. I raised her myself on bottle-feeding on a tireless, 24/7 on second-mom duty. Such a tiny dog takes incredible amount of attention, but it was worth it! We became inseparable, and she grew into a strong-willed dog, with great instincts.
We were devoted to each other, we trained a lot. She was a working dog at heart, but unfortunately, hip dysplasia ended her sporting career.
The affection remained, and the tough workdays were only replaced by lightened workdays, until the end of her life.
She died of kidney disease 3 days after her 9th birthday.
BONNIE Wildhearted
German Shepherd Dog girl
Born: 07.04.2003 (†28.10.2018)
SchH1, “a2”, TSB “pronounced”
I got Bonnie at 7 months old, from the breeding of my friend Ferenc “Fritz” Tóth and his partner. I believe it was love at first “training”. Working together was an indescribable experience. Many people said it was like we were girlfriends.
Maybe we were…it was enough for her just to look at me.
This puppy was born with great instincts and a huge heart – I couldn’t have wished for better. I simply adored her.
The pictures (and the competition results) tell the story… I think 🙂
She was with me for 15 and a half years.
Lots and lots of things fit into such a long time.
I got to learn so much from her. Mostly in our last years, when the focus was no longer on the hard work on the training field, but on a quieter retirement period. When she was waiting on her pillow with sparkling eyes for me to get home, so that we could go…
…and practice what we used to do in dog school 🙂 Even though she no longer moved like when she was young. But she didn’t mind at all. If she fell, she got up and went on. I was impressed by her zest for life, her eternal enthusiasm and affection. I was her proud owner, guide and companion.

Grosental WISKY
German Shepherd Dog boy
Born: 14.04.2004 (†07.09.2014)
Wisky was brought to me at the age of 1.5 years for training and looking for a new home. After getting to know him, I was unable to part with him. Even though I was asked; I couldn’t give him up. I became his owner.
His strong temperament, communication skills and, last but not least, stunning beauty captivated me.
He was a friendly giant. We weighed almost the same; the scale showed 104 lbs for him and 108 lbs for me.
Not only was he kind and beautiful, he adored working. I, on my part, adored him.
When he was 10 years old, we were walking in our backyard and all of a sudden, he fainted. The ultrasound revealed Hemangiosarcoma.
A tumor had grown on his heart. Just 3 weeks later, I had to let him go…
TRICK vom Kirchberghof
German Shepherd Dog boy
Born: 12.05.2005 (†28.09.2014)
Trick was 3-4 weeks old when we first met in Munich, at his breeder’s place. He was a very cute, dark-sable baby dog, and I was struck by his color at first sight. Then, during the two weeks we spent together, often apart from his siblings and mother, his instincts and talents became more and more convincing to me. His tiny, attentive eyes carried the promise of a real working dog, so I decided to raise him. We met again at a competition in Germany when he was 9 weeks old, after which he moved with me to Budapest.
Unfortunately, he warned me already at 5 months old that something was wrong. His frequent limping did not improve, and X-rays showed bilateral elbow joint dysplasia.
He underwent several surgeries, but never made a full recovery.
Yet, I was not disappointed. Tricky became a real German Shepherd Dog, always ready for action.
So we had to stick to more relaxed, but passionate games, instead of serious, hard work; although he was reluctant to give it up.
He realized all this with his legs, but not with his head.
And until the end of his life, he believed he was a puppy and belonged in my lap…
He was 9 years old when one day I felt a lump – about the size of a smaller ball, under his neck.
It was lymph node tumor.
My always cheerful Tricky followed Wisky over the Rainbow Bridge 3 weeks later.
And I nearly died of the heartache.
CSIBÉSZ
Mixed-breed girl
Born: Csajág, 13.03.2016
Csibész (Rascal) is a true gift in my Life.
She came to us just when I decided to stop training working dogs, because I was aware how much time and energy goes into a happy working dog, which I didn’t have…
So the 9-week-old mixed-breed puppy, from a very nice family near Lake Balaton, was intended specifically for my parents, as a watchdog.
Of course, I did a little bit of work with her, so that she could learn the basics, but I tried to keep my distance from her.
Then a ball appeared…and that’s when I got the biggest surprise. The furry baby dog ran after the ball, protected her pray and waited intently for the next task, with watchful eyes.
She was always cheerful and enthusiastic. Exactly like a Working Dog!
In just a few months, Csibész spent more time by my side than at home, guarding the house.
Slowly but surely, I fell deeply in love with her, and she also chose me from the family.
We enjoy every second of our time together. She is looking for challenges, learns at lightning speed and I try to keep up with her. Our neighbors often hear when we practice in the backyard: “Wow, I’m living with a Genius! You are the smartest dog in the whole World! I adore you, Csibész dog!” 🙂
PANKA
Mixed-breed girl
Born: 08.03.2018 (estimated)
She is the main character and the inspiration behind The Sensitive Dog (anita-dogtraining.com) website.
Panka was a stray dog who became my adopted dog, without me even thinking of keeping her. This changed, or rather, reversed completely, when she passed out from the trauma of being caught. It was then that I felt I could help her with my dog training knowledge, over 17 years of professional experience and 27 years
devoted to dogs.
The joys and difficulties I lived through with her, the experiences she helped me to, and her “transformation” are portrayed in the film “The Sensitive Dog – Panka’s Story.”
